Her Excellency Dr. Maryam Buti Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), held a dialogue session entitled “The Role of Young Emiratis in Building A Sustainable Digital Economy” at the SCA’s Dubai branch. Participants in the session exchanged views and explored the opportunities available to young people in the UAE’s economic environment. The session came as part of the events the SCA has been organizing to celebrate International Youth Day 2024, held this year under the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”.
As part of its agenda, the SCA hosted a workshop called “Youth, Technology, and Green Finance: Driving Sustainable Transition”, during which Luma Saqqaf, CEO of Ajyal Sustainability Consulting, spoke about the positive impact young people can have on promoting green finance and how technological innovation can be employed to achieve sustainable development goals.
On this occasion, Dr. Al Suwaidi extended her sincere congratulations to Emirati youth, indicating that this day makes for a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions of young people and the crucial role they play in shaping a sustainable future. She also lauded the pioneering roles played by the UAE’s wise leadership, which has always had deep faith in the potential of young Emiratis, thus working tirelessly to qualify them and open up new possibilities and opportunities for them to create a more prosperous and brighter future.
“This dialogue session with young people is instrumental to identifying their strengths and providing them with the support they need to pursue their ambitions. The SCA has always placed a high priority on training and qualifying young people out of its belief in the importance of equipping them with up-to-date digital skills, such as AI applications, that help accelerate the achievement of the UAE’s sustainable development goals to address the global economic and environmental challenges,” Dr. Al Suwaidi said.
She concluded by reaffirming the SCA’s commitment to providing its full support to government initiatives that encourage stronger youth participation and offer them the opportunity to improve their skills in fields that shape the future of a sustainable economy. Dr. Al Suwaidi said that great hopes are pinned on this event, which is expected to inspire young people and enhance their awareness of how to employ technology to achieve environmental goals and unlock their full potential to become future leaders.
