Under the patronage of Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Securities & Commodities Authority will organized on Wednesday its annual conference under the title “Financial Markets and their role in Building an Economy based on Knowledge, innovation, and Happiness” at YAS VICEROY Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, Acting CEO of the SCA, stated that the UAE hosts the conference out of its faith in the paramount role the financial markets can undertake in the journey of sustainable development and pushing of the national economy, in view of the critical function of these markets being a channel to mobilize the local savings and direct them to production fields and provide long-term funding for the different economic projects.
He noted that “the financial markets can perform a key role boosting and establishing the knowledge-based economy and adapting the creative ideas and innovative approaches to uplift the economic performance and achieve faster growth rates to provide more employment opportunities, increase the income, and achieve individual and society satisfaction and happiness”.
The conference will be kicked off with the opening address of H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori about the financial markets and their role in the knowledge and innovation-based economy. Then Paul Atkins, CEO of Patomak Global and former US SEC Commissioner will give the keynote speech which will address means of leveraging the knowledge and innovation-based economy in developing the emerging financial markets. Afterwards, the SCA strategy will be presented then the strategic partners and conference sponsors will be honored. Mounir Gwarzo, Chair of the IOSCO African-Middle East Regional Committee, will give the opening remark.
