A panel discussion by the supervisory and regulatory authorities in the GCC financial markets
About “manipulations in the securities markets’

 H.E. Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, Acting CEO of the SCA, honored the representatives of the GCC supervisory and regulatory authorities who participated in the workshop held by the SCATC.

The CEO of the SCA handed over the certificates of participation in the course to the participants in the end of its proceedings. He emphasized the importance of holding such events to exchange the experiences and conclude the lessons and results to contribute to boosting the principle of transparency and development of the supervisory performance of the GCC financial markets. The 2-day extensive panel discussion aimed at presenting some of the actual manipulation cases in the securities markets in the GCC.

The panel discussion was tailored to present in a scientism and systematic format  the experiences of the representatives of the participating regulatory and supervisory authorities and to discuss the possible solutions to handle the manipulations, in addition to exchange and share the experiences among the GCC financial market authorities, in light of the recommendations of the ministerial committee of the Chairmen of the GCC Securities Authorities, or equivalent, as well as the committee of the Heads of the GCC Securities Authorities, or equivalent. Participants in the panel discussion included the SCA and Dubai Financial Services Authority from the UAE, the Central Bank of Bahrain from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Capital Market Authority from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Capital Market Authority from Sultanate of Oman, Qatar Financial Markets Authority from the State of Qatar, and the Capital Markets Authority from the State of Kuwait.

Participants in the workshop also included representatives of a number of supervisory, judicial, and security authorities as well as the financial markets in the UAE.

The workshop included applied cases and practical examples which triggered extensive discussions.
