In conjunction with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee and 50th National Day celebrations, the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) hosted a range of events in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Maryam Al Suwaidi, the SCA’s CEO; His Excellency Mohammed Al Hadari, Deputy CEO for Supporting Services; and a number of department managers and employees while implementing the precautionary and preventive measures instituted to control the spread of Covid-19.
Dr. Al Suwaidi delivered a virtual speech in which she extended her most heartfelt wishes and congratulated His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai; their brothers Their Highnesses Members of the UAE Supreme Council; and all the UAE people on this dear occasion.
“The UAE’s 50th National Day is a dear occasion for all of us. It is an occasion that marks a significant milestone in the history of the United Arab Emirates and reflects its pioneering development march and far-reaching national achievements. This glorious day symbolizes the values of leadership, determination, and ambition, thus motivating us to give back, show generosity to others, and engage in our work with devotion and dedication to consolidate the status of our dear homeland. This is a day to recall the journey to excellence, which began with the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the UAE and builder of its renaissance, and his brothers the founding fathers, the very journey that led to the formation of the union,” Dr. Al Suwaidi said.
“The UAE’s Golden Jubilee serves as an ideal opportunity to contemplate the accomplishments made over the past fifty years while we prepare ourselves to make great strides and encourage creative thinking in the next fifty years. We celebrate this historical day every year, a day on which we recall the past achievements and the great deeds of our founding fathers. On this day, we renew the pledge to stay loyal to this land and to our leaders who managed to lead this nation to prosperity and welfare."
The SCA’s Abu Dhabi employees joined the celebration virtually. As part of the activities, the SCA’s building and offices were decked out with flags and a short movie telling the story of the establishment of the UAE was played. Poems were also recited and Emirati traditional dishes were served at the end of the celebration.
It is worth noting that the SCA has responded to the 50 Days to 50 Initiative by celebrating the 50th National Day fifty days before the actual day on which it falls. It organized activities and visits, including a field visit to the city of Khorfakkan and two contests where contestants were asked about the UAE’s tradition and heritage. It also hosted an event during which breakfast meals were served to employees.
