The United Arab Emirates joins the international society to celebrate the International Day of Happiness on March 20 of every year. In its 66th session, the United Nations proclaimed March 20 an international day of happiness to recognize the importance to seek happiness as a key sustainable development goal and to achieve the welfare of people. 

The country’s wise government, led by H.H. President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, embraced a vision of spreading the culture of happiness and positivity among community members and to make it a top priority in the belief that happy employees mean happy customers who represent community members. In this context, our wise government, led by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, launched the National Program for Happiness and Wellbeing, which helped government departments and stakeholders in the private sector and nongovernment institutions to explore and create an environment that helps employees prosper. The Ministry of Happiness and Wellbeing was also created to harmonize government plans, programs, and policies, thus achieving the happiness of the community. 

The UAE ranked high on the global happiness index and was the first among the world’s countries to make happiness a way of life and a part of its national identity. The eternal words of the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who said: “My wealth is the happiness of my people” days before announcing the establishment of the federation, still resound in our hearts.   

SCA follows suit by introducing numerous initiatives for its employees, investors, and community members at large. In this context, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for all the innovative initiatives launched to establish the concept of happiness.
