H.E. Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), hoisted the UAE flag outside of SCA’s Dubai branch in honor of the anniversary of the accession of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the UAE and in response to an initiative by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to celebrate Flag Day, which falls on November 03.

In his speech on this occasion, Dr. Al Zaabi said: “On this day, which is dear to our hearts, we are all gathered under the flagpole to raise the flag of the UAE high in the sky and to renew our pledge to our wise leadership that we will sacrifice everything to keep the flag aloft as a witness of our great achievements.”

He said that “the flag of the UAE represents the meanings of solidarity, synergy, and patriotism. It is an expression of the aspirations and hopes of the UAE people. It is a symbol of a dear homeland and an embodiment of the country’s sovereignty and integrity. We continue to walk on the path of our Founding Fathers ever since they raised the flag of the UAE on December 02, 1971, headed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE and architect of its modern renaissance.”

Dr. Al Zaabi explained that “the Flag Day is a day that brings together all our community members and all nationals and residents to celebrate this national occasion, which is dear to all of us, especially that raising the flag coincides with the Accession Day of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a day that ushered in a new dawn for our dear country and its development drive. Thanks to this, the UAE has achieved the highest ranks at the regional and international levels and has made the highest competitiveness gains.”

Dr. Al Zaabi indicated that Flag Day is an occasion to reiterate loyalty to the leadership and belonging to this dear homeland, and to present a bright picture of the UAE where the flags fly high on all homes to express love, loyalty, and self-sacrifice to keep the flag aloft as an embodiment of the strength of the UAE people.
