H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori: Award Aims to Promote Innovative Research Efforts in Securities and Commodities

 H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy and Board Chairman of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA),  announced the launch of the Innovation Award for Capital Market Research and said that the award aims to promote innovative research efforts in securities and commodities. He added that the award—worth in total AED90,000 and is presented to first, second, and third place winners— aims to open up new prospects for trading and licensing processes, regulation-drafting processes, supervisory functions, and awareness campaigns, as well as other capital market operations.  

Al Mansoori said that SCA looks forward to receiving applications from all relevant specialists, academic researchers, and securities industry practitioners to make use of innovative visions in finding advanced solutions to upgrade the performance of capital markets.  

 Contestant Categories

All academics and students from UAE-based universities, as well as from Arab and international ones.

Industry professionals at home and abroad from various securities and commodities sector constituents, including regulators, bourses, public joint-stock companies, brokerage companies, and financial services companies. 

Presented Prizes

 Research papers are evaluated by competent members of the referee committee. Winners will be presented with the following cash prizes: 

· First Place: AED40,000.

· Second Place: AED30,000.

· Third Place: AED20,000.

Research Topics

· Innovation in securities and commodities sector mechanisms, models, and services; newly-invented securities products that support markets economic development; and capital market mechanisms. 

· Innovation in Islamic finance (in relation to capital markets only).

· Innovation in securities supervisory techniques and mechanisms. 

· Innovation in investor and market participant awareness.

 Research Submission Period

 Research papers must be submitted within six months of the award announcement date through a link on the Innovation Portal on the SCA website (www.sca.gov.ae). Winners may be requested to give a presentation about their research. Recommendations of the winning research papers will be available for the use of SCA.
